Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
Kylie: Brock and I met at a party in 2004 where I shaved his leg. We never met up again until 2008. I had a crush on him and he had a girlfriend. So I had to patiently wait for him to dump her. We started talking in 2009 while he was living and working in NJ and I was in my first year of teaching. We got to know each other over the phone/facebook/texting /skype and a visit each month. We decided we didn’t want to be with anyone else and made it official
When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?
Kylie: I think I always knew that Brock was the one for me but never quite knew how he felt. With distance between us it was hard to tell. The moment I knew this thing was for real is when Brock quit his high paying job, moved back to KS and went back to school at KSU to be a teacher. He may never admit it but that big move had more to do with LOVE than he cares to admit.
Brock: There was not one thing that made me realize Kylie was it for me. Gradually over time I came to love her more and more and saw my future with her.
Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Kylie: Brock and I were on our 3 week trip to Europe last summer. I was hesitant to spend the money to travel like that but knew that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. We had been together for 3 years at the time and had talked about marriage in casual conversation. I thought to myself that he would be CRAZY to waist an awesome opportunity to propose in Europe… however 2 weeks into the trip still nothing. Finally, one night in Rome (when in Rome) we had just eaten a huge meal and were back in our room. He asked if I wanted my birthday present… 2 weeks late. I said “Sure… you packed it?” He then proceeded the throw a tshirt at me from across the room that said “Will you marry me?” Of course I said yes! He let me pick my ring when we got back to the US!
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Kylie: Brock has the best since of humor. He is always joking around, wearing funny outfits/costumes and is always up for an adventure. I love that he has opened my eyes and my tastebuds to new things. He is very calm cool and collected and brings me back down to earth when I am being a pain. He isn’t too hard on the eyes either and has nice thighs!
Brock: I like that Kylie does not take any sh*t from anyone. She is a very strong woman in many aspects
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does
Kylie: Most things about Brock are silly. He and his family have one of the best costume collections imaginable. He is not afraid to make an ass out of himself and in fact, I think he enjoys it!
Brock: Kylie does not like to eat sandwiches in the winter. She has special winter foods and summer foods and cannot switch them around.
Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Kylie: I am looking forward to having all of my closest family and friends in the same location for a positive reason. Really looking forward to a wild party as well
Brock: I am looking most forward to most is just being with everyone!
What’s your favorite trend for weddings right now?
Kylie: I love the rusic look and am trying my best to accomplish that on a budget. I love a good poofy dress even though the mermaid/trumpet style is more popular at the time. I am a small town girl so I love an informal country/rustic wedding.
What inspired your décor or theme?
Kylie: One word- Pinterest. It is the devil. It can make you think you are a Do It Yourselfer when in reality you are not! I had no desire to have a curfew on my wedding night so having the wedding at my dad’s was perfect.
What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Kylie: It is ok to ask for help! People want to help you even if you are a control freak like myself. There is a reasonably priced way to do most things. Spend your money on the things that matter… no one will remember the little details. Ask friends who have recently been married for advice too!
Brock: We wish we knew how to get large amounts of ice and have a place to store it! 🙂
