Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
We met on a match.com date — at Granite City Brewery in Olathe.
Natalie: I remember Mark’s BIG smile and genuine personality. We never ran out of things to say. And of course, let’s face it — he was and is very good looking!
Mark: I was early and saw her when she came in. I didn’t realize how short she really was til we got up to leave! I bought her a beer, and I ended up having such a good time that I bought her an appetizer so she’ d stay longer!
When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?
Mark: I knew there was potential when I actually had fun going to a KU football game (Note: Mark is a devoted Mizzou Alum)
Natalie: I think I knew when he gave me a CD with favorite songs on it. The first one was “Falling For You” by Colbie Calliat. That really got me to thinking!
Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Mark: The proposal was at The Raphael Hotel in Kansas City as we sat and looked out out at a beautiful view of The Plaza. I thought she’d probably say yes, but , . . it is still a little nervewracking. I started looking at rings about a month before.
Natalie; I was definitely caught off guard. It was a perfect proposal — just the two of us, very relaxed and sweet.
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Mark: I love the way she makes me laugh.
Natalie: husband Mark never has an unkind word to say about anyone. he sees the best in — and elicits the best from — everyone around him. I also love that he will accompany me on most any adventure I throw at him.
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does
Mark: She puts trash in the sink sometimes instead of the trash can. It is just a total mystery to me.
Natalie: He can sleep for hours without ever letting go of the remote or cell phone in his hand.
Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Natalie; Enjoying the beautiful settings of Danforth Chapel and The Oread. Also having my friends and family there and having some of my favorite music as part of the ceremony and reception.
Mark: Having all my family together — and enjoying the fabulous wedding cake I found.
What’s your favorite trend for weddings right now?
Natalie: Wedding hashtags! Everybody’s pictures in one place.
Mark: Weddings have trends? What?
What inspired your décor or theme?
Fourth of July Weekend — tried to have some red, white, and blue accents around. Also had a lot of sunflowers around.
What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
We worked pretty well together — didn’t have a lot of surprises that way! Planning the wedding turned out to be nice illustration of the fact that we can work together successfully on a detailed project and a common goal! It was a good “exercise” for us in a way!
