Chris and Kayla’s outdoor summer wedding at the Victorian Verdana Inn in Lawrence, Kansas by Kansas City wedding photographer Jerry Wang Photography.
Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
We started talking online. We talked over the phone for two weeks, sometimes staying up until three or four in the morning. After some convincing from Chris, Kayla agreed to go out on a date. A few days after, then we went out again and decided to be an official couple.
When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?
From Chris: After dating for a while, my thoughts on the future began to change. Every Time I’d try to imagine what my future could look like, I couldn’t picture any scenario without Kayla and I together.
From Kayla: After the first few dates, Chris and I realized how much we had in common and how our lives were headed in the same direction. Everything just seemed to make sense, and that is what made me believe Chris was the perfect man for me. I couldn’t imagine living my life without him by my side.
What is the most memorable date you’ve ever had?
From Chris: We went to the movies and I someone managed to spill an entire large soda all over Kayla when we got into the car to go home! Oops..
From Kayla: Our first date is the most memorable because Chris was able to break me out of my shell. I’m generally a shy person when I meet someone for the first time, but with Chris I was able to just be myself.
Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
From Chris: Jerry I think you know this one already! I started planning my mountaintop proposal maybe 4 or 5 months out. I wasn’t too freaked out until she was standing in front of me. I didn’t have any words prepared because I figured I would screw them up somehow, so I just winged it. Thankfully it worked out in my favor!
From Kayla: It was a complete surprise! We had talked about getting married several times and I was expecting a proposal within the year, but not during our family vacation in Colorado!
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
From Chris: Her laugh! It never fails to spark up some butterflies.
From Kayla: Chris has a great sense of humor. I love his goofy, quirky side. He is always able to make me laugh, no matter the circumstances.
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does
From Chris: Every now and then, Kayla will talk in her sleep about her Pharmacy classes she’s taking. “I don’t think that’s the right compound,” is one quote I remember.
From Kayla: Something Silly or quirky about Chris?! That’s everything! If I had to pick one thing, he sings out loud to every song that he hears, even in the middle of a restaurant! Sometimes it’s a little embarrassing.
Describe the theme or décor for your wedding.
It’s a rustic country barn type of theme.
