Title | Our Story
Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
We actually went to the same high school and had several mutual friends and acquaintances, but we never became friends until college. A year after Alec graduated and I was in my senior year of college, we started hanging out more, and I gave him a little kiss on December 23rd, 2012, after we went driving around with Alec’s parents to look at Christmas lights. 🙂
When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?
Tabitha – I had a feeling he was worth keeping since before we started dating. Something that really solidified it for me was when we were neighbors in Lawrence, and I was really sick with tonsillitus. I could barely eat anything, and he helped me make mac and cheese and ate it with me late at night.
Alec – I knew she won me over when she asked me to go to Taiwan with her and I didn’t run away.
What is the most memorable date you’ve ever had?
Tabitha – we went to Taiwan together to visit a friend, and we tried many new things, and I used my basic level Chinese to make our way through Taipei and Jiufen.
Alec – going to Chicago for a few days. We found an amazing Swedish breakfast restaurant in Wrigleyville called Ann Sather’s, and everything we ate was delicious.
Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
I totally saw it coming, because Alec actually planned a date! We rode his motorcycle to Lake Olathe, and had a picnic at the lakeside. We played around the park for a little while as well. I was so excited. According to Alec, he was nervous. I jumped the gun during our date when Alec said I was cute, and I thought that was the moment. I was like, “Yes?? Tell me more!!!” And Alec rolled along with it. After digging in his backpack for a few seconds, he got out the ring box and got down on one knee! After I got the ring on my finger, I ran around yelling, “We’re engaaaaaged!” There is video proof of this.
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Tabitha – I love how thoughtful he is and how much he cares for me, even in my worst of my moods.
Alec – Tabitha giggles at my silly shenanigans.
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does
Tabitha – Alec makes faces like Beaker from the muppets and says “meep,” with varying kinds of emotion
Alec – Tabitha purrs like a cat when I scratch over her head.
Describe the theme or décor for your wedding.
The colors are lavender and sage green, along with accents of gray/silver and white. We will be using fresh lavender and accent greens and white flowers (like baby’s breath) in vases and mason jars.
