Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

We first met on a Brothers Bar Party Bus. I was a bartender there and he was friends with most of the bartenders. He kept hitting on my friend all night calling her “sparkles” and I took tons of photos with him in them looking hilarious. He lived in Nevada at that time so he was trying to sublease his apartment. He tried to get me to sublease since I was looking and was friends with his other roommates. We didn’t really know each other but continued to play video games together with mutual friends. Months later and after knowing him as “Proctor” and him knowing me as “corncobb” he came back to Kansas and the rest is history!

When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?

Zach knew a little before I did, but I think I was the one who initiated things. I flirted a lot while I was bartending and serving him drinks, I thought he was adorable. Zach tried and tried by asking me out, and finally I gave in and soon the feelings did also. Very soon at that. Zach and I started our friendship by sharing very personal details about our lives. Something two people our age shouldn’t have in common did, both our fathers had passed away. Mine had been very recently, and his a few years before. We were able to share something that most of my friends didn’t understand, and having that horrible tragedy to share with someone who understood made our feelings that much stronger because we were able to open up so early.

Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Well I was 6 months pregnant, and didn’t exactly see it coming. Zach had been hinting since December that he was going to propose, even would joke about it and as we were walking on the Plaza he acted like he was going to! After a few weeks and even months I stopped expecting it and figured it will happen when it happens. Then on Easter morning we exchanged gifts and he gave me a HUGE egg filled with candy, and a smaller egg. Then another and another until I finally got a to a tiny egg that had a ring in it. The small egg was stuck together so I basically ripped it open, and when I did Zach fell to his knee’s to propose. I started screaming and said “Yes” before he could even ask the whole question. So we’ve been planning for over 2 years. Since we are planning and paying for it all on our own we wanted to make sure we had enough money and that we spent the first year more focused on our son rather than our wedding.

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

I love that he still makes me laugh to this day. Zach says I make him smile even when he doesn’t want to, and on the side I make precious babies 🙂

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does

Zach enjoys making a lot of puns out of normal conversation, usually when no one else notices except me. He thinks he is hilarious…. (most of the time he is 🙂 )

What inspired your décor or theme?

My favorite color plus another color that goes well with it!

What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Order things online and stop trying to DIY with everything.
