This was an amazing day for the Jerry Wang Photography team. We’ve known Megan since our days at the University Daily Kansan a few years back. We were extremely honored when she decided to have us photograph her wedding. To be completely honest, we’ve never done a Jewish wedding before. So we sat down with Megan before the wedding and went over all of the traditions: from the chuppah, to the ketubah, to the horah. The entire experience was nothing like we’ve ever photographed before. The photos cannot convey the amount of excitement and passion Megan, Sam and their loved one had for this beautiful celebration. Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
Our good friend Josh set us up, but we’ve known each other our entire lives. Sam’s mom was the school nurse, our grandfathers played poker together, Megan and Sam’s youngest sister, Jacquie were in Brownie Girl Scouts together and Sam’s middle sister, Michele, was in Megan’s older brother’s class. We believe we’re meant to be!
When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?
We both knew before our first date, but it was confirmed at first sight! Cheesy, but true!
Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Sam proposed on top of the Liberty Memorial. I had no idea it was coming at that moment. I thought he was joking when he got down on one knee! The minute he pulled the ring out of his pocket, I started crying and was the happiest girl in the entire world! I tried to call my mom after it happened, but she couldn’t understand a word I was saying because I was freaking out and crying so much!
